Feb 27, 11:45 PM. Nazareth, Israel

At 8 a.m. today, Father Diego celebrated Holy Mass for the group on the main altar of the Basilica of the Annunciation.

Once again, the Basilica was filled with beautiful music by those in The Heights a cappella group. A hearty breakfast awaited the boys back at the Sisters of Nazareth. The group then departed by bus to the Sea of Galilee area first stopping at the Wedding Church in Cana where Jesus miraculously changed water into wine. The group then enjoyed the view of the sea from the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus is said to have delivered the Sermon on the Mount. Tabgha, was the next stop, the site of Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes.

Keeping on theme, a special lunch was then served to the group at a nearby restaurant featuring St. Peter’s fish, which many curious guys were undoubtedly eager to taste. Having eaten their fill, the guys at last boarded a boat on the Sea of Galilee for a cruise and quickly hoisted the U.S. and The Heights School flag singing the National Anthem (In true Heights fashion) While anchored on the water where Jesus walked on water, Father Diego delivered a meditation. After a short period of silent prayer with the engine off, the boys played some of their favorite music and enjoyed the rest of the sea cruise.

Following the boat ride the bus traveled the short distance to the Church of the Primacy of Peter where Jesus, appearing to Peter, tested him.

Our final stop was the Town of Capernaum where Jesus Peter and the Apostles lived. It was here he performed many miracles.

The evening featured a tour of the excavations under the Sisters of Nazareth house that many believe to be the site of the “Tomb of a Just Man” (St. Joseph)

Tomorrow, the group will bid farewell to Nazareth and head to Bethlehem and Jerusalem, where many more wonders await.
