Today, after breakfast, the Height’s group had the privilege to pray the Angelus in the very place where it first occurred: Mary’s house at the Basilica of the Annunciation. Our travelers then visited the sites of the Holy Family including the Synagogue Church where Father Diego explained the connection of this church to the Height’s chapel. We then visited the Greek Orthodox Church, site of Mary’s well. A stroll through the village of Nazareth followed, during which the boys sauntered among all the streets and areas of Nazareth including Joseph’s house.
After a lunch back at the Sisters of Nazareth, the group headed to Mount Tabor by bus, then transferred to taxis, with drivers experienced in navigating the crazy, winding mountain roads leading to Antonio Barlucci’s magnificent church. Father Diego celebrated Holy Mass at 3pm at the site where Jesus revealed His Glory in the Transfiguration. On the return trip to Nazareth we visited the the scenic top of Mount Precipice, the site of the rejection of Jesus as described in Luke 4:29-30.
On return to Nazareth we happened to run into some famous Heights mom’s in the middle of town including Colin Gleason’s mom (Gus’ grandmother) and Mrs. Hadley. A short time later, the boys were super excited to get some free time to explore the City of Nazareth. Several headed right for McDonalds to experience the Smokey McRoyal burger they had seen advertised on highway billboards.
Tomorrow, the group will depart for a full day in the area surrounding the Sea of Galilee.
