Day 3

  • Check out of hotel in Budapest; depart for Austria. Mass TBA
  • Visit Cathedral of Esztergrom and tomb of Joseph Cardinal Mindszenty
  • Lunch
  • Visit Our Lady of Gyor and tomb of Bishop William Apor, martyr
  • Arrive in Vienna, Austria in the evening. Check into hotel.
  • Dinner

Klosterneuburg

Day 4

  • Holy Mass at Stift Klosterneuburg
  • Tour of Stift Klosterneuburg, home of Canons Regular of St. Augustine
  • Wine tasting in the Stift winery
  • Continue tour: magnificent Verduner Altar in St. Leopold’s Chapel, reliquary of St. Leopold, art treasures in the museum, 12th century abbey church, residential apartments of the emperors
  • Dinner

St-Stephens, Budapest

Day 5

  • Holy Mass TBA
  • Visit Schatzkammer
  • Visit Capuchin Church and tomb of the newly beatified Mark d’Aviano
  • Visit St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna, early 14th century Gothic cathedral and one of the premier cathedrals of Europe
  • Walking tour of Graben and Karntnerstrasse, Vienna’s pedestrian shopping zone
  • Lunch
  • Tour of the Schonbrunn Palace, summer residence of the Hapsburg rulers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, 1441 rooms, formal planted gardens
  • Free Evening

Melk Altar

Day 6

  • Holy Mass TBA
  • Visit the shrine of Our Lady of Maria Taferl, the largest place of pilgrimage dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows
  • Visit the Benedictine abbey at Melk, one of the world’s finest baroque buildings; tour the Stiftskirche (Golden Abbey Church with the tomb of St. Coloman), the monastery museum and the Marble Hall
  • Lunch
  • Return on a scenic boat cruise on the Danube to the town of Durnstein, tour town, blue church and Richard the Lionheart’s castle
  • Meet bus for return trip
  • Free Evening

Salzburg

Day 7

  • Holy Mass TBA
  • Visit Carmelite church of Our Lady of the Bowed Head which contains the miraculous image of Our Lady and the tomb of Blessed Dominic, the 16th century Carmelite friar who found the original paiting of the Virgin Mary
  • Visit the Cistercian Abbey at Heiligenkreuz, named for the “Holy Cross”, which houses a relic said to be of the true cross; guided tour of the abbey and the museum
  • Free afternoon in Vienna
  • Farewell Dinner (catered meal served in the garden at Stift Klosterneuburg)

Day 8

  • Check out of hotel in Vienna
  • Holy Mass TBA
  • Transfer to airport for departure home
