Day 1 Departure

Washington D.C. / Dulles

Meet at Dulles airport 3:15 pm for distribution of trip envelopes and Father Burchell pilgrimage prayer. Departure 6:05 PM via Frankfurt for Rome, Italy on flight.

Day 2

Frankfurt/ Rome

On arrival into the Eternal City (Rome) we will take a brief bus tour of the city including Capitoline Hill, Circus Maximus, Coliseum, Roman Forum, Piazza Venezia. Check into our lodging, Domus Carmelitana near Castle St Angelo. Afternoon Mass TBA. Additional itinerary TBA. Cenone. (Dinner) Overnight Rome.

Day 3

Rome

Breakfast. Walk to MASS St. Peter’s. Chapel TBA. After Mass, tour St. Peter’s Basilica; John Paul II Chapel, etc. (St. Peter’s the most grand church in the world built on the site where St. Peter was martyred) Free afternoon for personal prayer, shopping etc. Meet back at the Domus Carmelitana. Cenone. Overnight Rome.

Rome

Box breakfast. Walk. Depart very early AM for Papal Audience (Pending Papal Schedule) St. Peter’s Square. Meet after for Pranone (Lunch). Tour Vatican Museum / Sistine Chapel. MASS TBA. Dinner and Evening on your own. Overnight Rome.

Ancient Rome

Day 5

Rome / Ostisa / Anzio

Breakfast. Mass TBA. Departure by bus for Ostia Antica Ancient excavated ruins. (Where St. Augustine tended to his Mother St. Monica) Continue to Anzio (American Military Cemetery, Tomb of St Maria Goretti, Nettuno) Pranzone / Castelli Romani, Lazio (Beautiful and charming hilltop villages on deep blue lakes. A favorite weekend getaway from the Eternal City for centuries) Return to Rome. Dinner and Evening on your own. Overnight Rome.

Assisi

Day 6

Rome / Assisi

Breakfast. MASS -Station Church (Cosmos and Damien) Depart by Bus to Assisi. In Assisi, we will visit the sites made famous by its two best-known citizens, St. Francis and St. Clare, including the tombs of these famous Saints in the basilicas, the Monastery of St. Damian and the convent founded by St. Clare. Lodging at Suore Francescane Angeline. Cenone in Assisi. Overnight Assisi.

Assisi Orvieto

Day 7

Assisi / Orvieto/ Bolsena /Rome

Breakfast- Check-out. MASS -TBA. Brief visit to Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli in Assisi (visit the Portiuncola, Rose bush and the cave where St. Francis spent time in prayer.) Depart Assisi by bus for Bolsena / Orvieto. Visit the beautiful Duomo that houses the Corpus of the 13th century Eucharistic miracle. (Orvieto is a beautiful city built on a mountain of volcanic rock. Also famous for Orvieto wine) Pranzone in Orvieto. Return to Rome check-in to Domus Carmelitana. Dinner and evening on your own. Overnight Rome.

Rome

Breakfast. MASS-St Agnes TBA. 12:00 Angelus / St Peter’s Square (Pope Francis, pending papal) Schedule Walking Tours of Old Rome / and notable churches (Gesu, Pantheon, Minerva) Lunch and afternoon on your own in Rome. Meet at Domus Carmelitana for Cenone. Overnight Rome.

Basilica

Day 9

Rome

Breakfast. MASS TBA. Seven Church Walk. Depart from St. Peter’s Basilica. Visit Santa Maria Vallicella, St. Mary Major, Basilica of St. Lawrence, Basilica of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem, Basilica John Lateran / Scala Santa, Catacombs of St. Sebastian. Brief lunch on your own. Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls. Farewell Dinner in Rome. Overnight Rome.

Day 10

Rome / Munich / Washington D.C.

MASS – TBA Breakfast. Board bus for airport. Return Flight Home. Depart Rome 12:15 pm via Munich for Dulles Arrival 7:40PM. (Lufthansa flight LH 1843 Rome / Munich. LH 414 Munich / Washington)
