The Heights men woke up early today and took a short walk through the beautiful Old City of Jerusalem to arrive at the Holy Sepulchre. But this morning would be like no other they have ever experienced. Father Diego would have the honor of celebrating the Holy High Mass at the Tomb of Jesus. Many of the boys joined in singing Latin responses and hymns with the Franciscan Choir. After the High Mass the boys entered the Tomb. Truly something they will never forget!

Afterwards the group took a group photo in front of the Holy Sepulchre to remember this very special morning. Later, it was off to the Western Wall (Wailing Wall) to offer prayers and witness the holiest place in the Jewish faith. This was followed by waiting and passing through security to go on the Temple Mount above the Western Wall and site of the Dome of the Rock Mosque.

Heights Men Sing at the Birthplace of Mary

After a group photo and visit on the Temple Mount, the boys made their way to St. Anne’s Church, site of the the home of St. Joachim and St. Anne (Birthplace of Mary)

The Church is known for remarkable acoustics. Small groups of singers sound like large choirs singing in a vast Cathedral. The boys from the Heights Group who sing with Dr. Strothers were up for the challenge. The result was stunning! SEE VIDEO BELOW

The afternoon featured a visit to the Mount of Olives and the place of the Ascension of Our Lord followed by a visit to the Carmelite Convent (the room) where Jesus taught the Our Father prayer. The group continued to Domus Flevit where Jesus wept over the city. The visit finished with the Garden of Gesthsemane and the Church of all Nations.

Tonight, the group will go to the Big Tent Restaurant in Bethlehem to experience a true mid-east feast.
