Wednesday began in Bethlehem with a special Mass celebrated by Father Diego in the cave where Our Lord was born in, beneath the oldest church in the world.
After breakfast, the group departed from Bethlehem south down to the Judean Desert. A visit to the City of Jericho in Palestine featured the Sycamore tree and the Mount of Temptations. Headmaster, Mr. de Vicente had the opportunity to ride a camel just in front of the Mount of Temptations.
Following lunch, the group visited the site where Jesus was baptized by St. John the Bapist at the Jordan River. The day ended with a relaxing afternoon floating in the Dead Sea, the lowest and saltiest waters in the world. Next the boys headed on towards Jerusalem for check-in at the Knights Palace historic hotel.
Scripture reading for the visit today in the Holy Land
And so Joseph went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to David’s town of Bethlehem-because he was of the house and lineage of David -to register with Mary, his espoused wife, who was with child.
She gave birth to her first born-sonand wrapped him swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger because there was no room for them in the place where travelers lodged.
Luke 2:2-7
