After breakfast, the group departed Nazareth by bus and headed to the Sea of Galilee area where Jesus spent most of his ministry. The first stop was Tabgha, the sight of Jesus multiplying the loaves and fishes to fed 5000 men. Followed by a visit to The Primacy where Jesus asked Peter, “ Do you love me?” the boys spent time on the beach there on the Sea of Galilee. The next stop was the Mount of Beatitudes. Father Diego celebrated an outdoor Mass on the mountain over looking the sea. The highlight of the morning was a visit to Capernaum (Jesus’ favorite town), to the Synagogue and the house of Peter where Jesus cured Peter’s mother in law.
A special lunch featured “Saint Peter’s Fish”.
After lunch, the group boarded the boat for a cruise on the Sea of Galilee complete with the U.S. flag hoisted by the crew and the U.S. National Anthem for the occasion. The boys enjoyed the ride and spent some brief time in silent prayer on the sea ending in Tiberias.
The group made there way back to Nazareth for dinner. After dinner, they had a special private visit to the amazing excavations under the Sisters of Nazareth guest house. Many experts believe these excavations are the tomb of St. Joseph.
